Quality Control North West (QCNW)

QCNW is an alliance of two NHS Hospital Pharmaceutical Laboratories, based in the North West of England region, that together provide laboratory services for the Hospital Pharmacies in the region.

The individual laboratories additionally provide a comprehensive range of research and scientific services to the NHS, other public bodies, private healthcare customers and the pharmaceutical industry.

The laboratories are based at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and at the Pharmacy Practice Unit (Hosted by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). Services include environmental monitoring, quality control and batch release testing, stability determination of aseptically prepared medicines, other research and development formulation studies, advice and support.

The laboratories are each approved by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) as providers of quality control laboratory services and are individually accredited under the UKAS scheme (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to the ISO/EIC 17025:2017 standard.
